Coming from a background of casual running, having started out at parkrun back in 2014, I had no experience of club running or structured training before coming to university. I'd competed in a handful of track and road races, but since joining BUAC, I have improved drastically, dropping minutes off both my 5k and 10k times.
Men's Track & Field Captain
I started athletics when I was 12 after attending an athletics summer camp. I started out as a high jumper but at the age of 14 I took up combined events, after a few separate coaches suggested I give it a try. I completely fell in love with combined events after completing my first pentathlon at top year u15. Then, as they say, the rest is history. I haven't turned back since and my experience in athletics has been incredible. To now be track captain is an amazing experience and I look forward to leading the team into 2021!
Women's Track & Field Captain
I have been doing athletics for around 10 years, and I have participated in every single event possible. Although going to English Schools for multi-events, javelin and cross country, my main event is now 3000m steeplechase, where I represented GB Juniors in 2020. I love taking part in any event, with my favourite event of the year being BUCS track and field, indoor and cross country. In 2020 I loved participating in British Champs and IFAM in Belgium for steeplechase, and I am looking forward to another busy season in 2021 and hope to represent GB again in the future.
Men's Cross Country Captain
I’m from Bromley in south-east London, and started out running cross country in primary school before joining my local club Blackheath & Bromley in 2010 aged 11. I continued with athletics alongside football throughout my school years but was never able to make it to English Schools.
I came to Birmingham in 2017 to study dentistry and since joining BUAC I have been fortunate enough to compete at BUCS 4 times, making the final of the steeplechase in 2019 and helping us to a team silver at the 2020 cross country champs.
Women's Cross Country Captain
I’ve been running for about 9 years and it’s always been a big part of my life but joining BUAC when I first got to uni in 2018 is when I really started to properly enjoy running and started to be more competitive. I grew up in a small town so never had a huge group to train with, then I came to uni and suddenly had a huge group of friends to train with which I think is pretty cool.

After doing many different sports when I was younger, I started to focus on athletics in 2017 and never looked back. I joined BUAC in 2019. After joining the club, I improved on my High Jump PB by 4cm in the 2020 indoor season, placing 5th at BUCS and 4th at U20 Nationals.
Sport Exercise & Health Science
I started athletics and cross country at senior school at the age of 12, competing for fun. Falling in love with it I then decided to join Basildon Athletics and competed for them and Essex for 7 years before joining BUAC. My experience throughout has been fantastic, even with the ups and downs, and joining BUAC has been one of the many highlights.
I started off as a mediocre long jumper then found hurdles as a U17 and fell in love with the 300H, after a breakthrough year coming 4th at English schools and second at the UK school games. Then after a very successful indoor season picking up medals regionally & nationally in 60mH, I picked up a back & hamstring injury which kept me out for the full season. Moving onto 400mH as an U20, I have won Regional medals and at Scottish Nationals. In 2019 I was ranked 6th in UK and the highlight was qualifying and running in my first British Championships.
During my first year at uni I was a member of the Silver medal 4 x 200m relay team at the BUCS indoors event, but sadly due to COVID-19 the rest of the BUCS season was cancelled.
Sport & Exercise Sciences
I’m going into my third year studying sport and exercise sciences and have been a part of BUAC since day 1 of uni. I have been competing in athletics for 10 years now in both cross country and track. Athletics has been a main part of my life for such a long time and I have well and truly experienced the ups and downs of athletics!

I've been running since I started secondary school. I've always like being part of the running club culture. The highlight of my athletics career was jumping 1.27m in the high jump.
